Founded in 1878, Ashland University is a private, liberal arts and professional institution. It is located in the state on Ohio in the north-central part of America, below the Great Lakes. The state has a great variety, featuring both great industrial cities and rolling hills and farmland. It is headquarters for many large corporations as well as many beautiful natural areas and parks. The city of Ashland is proud of its quality of life. It is a community with solid values, one that reflects its unique heritage. Clean friendly neighbourhoods, fine schools, churches, parks and shopping are all within minutes of the university. Ohio's climate offers great variety in four distinct seasons - summer, fall, winter and spring. On some hot summer days, temperatures reach as high as 35° C, while on winter nights it can drop to a cold -18°C. One can expect personal attention from faculty, stafff and administration - from people who care about your development as a student and as a person. Ashland is rated as having the lowest violent crime rate of any city of its size in the state of Ohio. It is a small friendly city that gives international students a great chance toexperience traditional American culture. The International Student Services (ISS) office is available as a place of information and support for international students. An active International Club provides social and cultural opportunities. It is about an hour drive from Ohio's two largest cities, Cleveland and Columbus, and within a days drive to New York city, Niagara Falls, chicago, Washington, D.C. and Toronto, Canada. Ashland has been voted #1 in college food servce in the national among schools of similar size Nearly 70 majors are offered, including most traditional liberal arts majors as well as a wide range of majors in business and education. More than 80% of our 200 faculty members have doctorates or the highest degree in their fields, and our student-facility ratio is 15-1. Besides bachleor degree programs, Ashand also offers associate degree, second degree, and non-degree programs. |
