Application Requirements

Application Processing is a two-step process:

  1. In addition to the application form, you will need to send
  1. If you are accepted, we will then send you our acceptance letter, and you will need to send financial documents showing you have the funding needed for your first year of study, and a $200 tuition deposit.

Financial documentation (bank statements, letters from employers, etc.) is required by the US government. The documentation needs to show that you have the ability to pay for at least one full year of study and living costs here at Maryville. (Even with our highest scholarships, the total cost per year will be at least $15,000. The tuition deposit of $200 is applied toward your first semester's tuition. It will be refunded if you cannot get a student visa, or if you return the unused I-20 and inform us that you will not attend.

When the tuition deposit and financial records have been received, I-20 form needed for your student visa application at the US Embassy or consulate will be issued.

There is no deadline for applications, but you will usually need to complete your application process at least 4 months before you wish to begin, in order to have enough time to get the forms processed, to get your student visa, and make final travel arrangements.

You may choose to send all items (application fee, school records, essays, $200 deposit, financial documents) at the same time, to speed the process.

Notes:

  1. The application fee may be paid by bank check (on a US-based bank), or by sending credit card information (type of card, name on card, number, and expiration date).
  2. We do not require SAT, TOEFL, IELTS or other standardised tests. However, the English proficiency tests (TOEFL or IELTS) are highly recommended, to help us and to help you know your language ability.

Tuition Fees and Other Costs

The costs for the academic year 2003-2004 for university (B.A.) studies are as follows:

TOTAL: $25, 960

Added costs: books (estimated at $800 per academic year), health insurance (about $450 for 10 months), and personal expenses, including transportation.

Scholarships are available for international students, but our highest awards cover only about 1/2 of the total annual cost.
