Special Programs

Thai Teachers' Practicum - since 1990, teachers and administrators from Thailand have come to SUNY Oneonta to study English, observe classes, and establish contacts with their counterparts both on campus and at local elementary and secondary schools.

American Quarter Program - since 1984, the American Quarter Program has brought students from the University of Wurzburg, Germany to SUNY Oneonta for nine weeks during the fall semester. The purpose of the Quarter Program is for Wurzburg students to learn about US history and society and to experience US campus life. Part of the Quarter Program itinerary is a trip to Washington, DC and Boston, Massachusetts. Each academic year, three other Wurzburg students serve as teaching assistants in German language and other academic areas.

The University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada and SUNY Oneonta exchange students as part of a Cross-Cultural Communication course (SPCH 258). This program is offered randomly in the fall semester.

The Office of International Education, in conjunction with other academic departments (Economics & Business, Education, etc.) offers special short-term programs carefully designed to meet the professional needs to international participants. Based on participant eligibility, internships are arranged as part of the program experience. For those whose English language proficiency is not sufficiently advanced, an ESL component is included.
